Donna Lee and Stephen MClay came for the first time to Playa Blanca Hotel at the end of January 2006. Today we can count more than 10 times that we have received this happy couple in our resort. They can not hide emotions when they remember the second time they came and everybody recognized them and called them by their names. Coming here became a habit. Little by little, the workers started to have a bigger place in their hearts, up to the point of becoming a necessary part for their lives and they started considering it their Cuban family.
As good family members, they wanted to share most of their joy with us it was the time Donna came up with the idea of having the wedding of one of their kids at the resort. One beautiful day in April, 2011, their daughter Samantha Horrocks was marrying Peter John at the new place and with the new family they already had but it was not enough.
Christopher Gerry Donald Horrocks, another son of that couple, got married at Playa Blanca just five months later with Chelsea Rose Hall, a girl Donna and Stephen had met here on one of their trips. Since the very beginning they saw her, they knew she would be Christopher’s wife.
This has not been just a story of love and weddings of the children at the resort. In this place, Donna and her sister Suzanne, who grew up separately and didn’t see each other for a long time, decided to come together for Christopher’s marriage and they realized how alike they were and how great they got along together.
They promised each other to come again and never be apart for so long. For Donna and Stephen, Playa Blanca Hotel is much more than a resort; it is the place where another part of their family lives, their Cuban family as they call it which keeps growing in every visit the make: Edduar, Balvina, Zoila, Roberto, Juan Carlos, Dunny, El Ruso, Jose Luis, Boris and Briza are like the Cuban cousins, brothers or even twins they have in this island together with the new members like Melquiades, a charismatic dancer they just met.
They have had uncomfortable moments when they have read a bad comment on the internet about the hotel, but as soon as they have travelled here, they have realized the food is as delicious as always, the place is safe and peaceful as usual, but more than that they still have the privilege of counting on their family. The workers that never disappoint them and have fun with as good families do. They don’t know if their youngest son will get married here, they have no idea when is it going to be but they are absolutely sure about one thing, Playa Blanca will always be the place where this big and amazing family of Cubans and Canadians will gather to enjoy the pleasure of being together just for the fun of it.
A nice surprise was when visitors could leave their messages of appreciation written by them selves in one of the wall designed for that purpose.
This Thursday, repeat guests visited Cigar’s House, turtle’s Farm, Torreón restaurant, La Taberna bar at the marina and they were photographed for Cayo Largo Museum.

ALEX AMONG US, ONCE AGAIN
When we heard the news we didn’t believe it. Alex, the youngest repeat client of Barceló Hotel and his parents were back in the resort. Two weeks ago we said good bye to them at the lobby with a huge kiss of receptionists, bell boys, entertainers and some other workers who gathered there to see the expressive eyes of that kid which, for the first time, seemed to be hidden in the sadness of the farewell.
Once at his house, the boy kept the routine of calling his favorite workers who are not a few any more to become a growing long list.
On Thursday April the 2nd Alex came back and now he shows with proud a shinning necklace that reads Cayo Largo and keeps as a trophy for his fidelity plus being an inseparable attire of his clothes.
His parents enjoy how the infant mixes with the rest of the clients in one of the big hall of the buffet restaurant during the breakfast, also when he takes the little train to go to Paraiso beach or when he holds the hand of the public relation man to walk through out the hotel.
Day by day we see the Barceló boy, as some people call him. His restless behavior does not surprise us anymore; it has become part of our daily life. There is not doubt about it; this little boy is a good example of the new generation who loves our hotel and will always do.
His parents have been loving Cuba and its people for a long time now and they visited a lot of different locations until one day they decided to come to Cayo Largo.

Alex has experienced, since the very beginning the warmth of our beaches, he has laughed of the jokes of barmen or he has been carried out in the arms of any working maids. His parents say that even in Montreal, the city where this little boy lives, he pretends being here and calls one of his favorite barmen to order the drinks he likes the most.

AN EXCELLENT COMMUNICATOR
This is Juan Manuel Cid Casas in Cayo Largo del Sur, to which all affectionately call Pire and he has dedicated all his life to the Public Relations. This excellent communicator has worked for more than 20 years in our pole, he was for more than 4 years a chief of the group of RRPP in the Key and there is founding also to the Marina Cayo Largo in which he is working since 1974.
Charisma, knowledge and much of fantasy are mixed when there counts for example the legend of the acquaintance Pirate Henrry Morgan and the treasure that he should bury in Cayo Largo, or the famous history about “The Cross” of the Pirate Square, at present Boulevar, where it recreates the religious and orishas beliefs, or simply the history of the millennial Yana tree, the most long-lived tree in Cayo Largo, of which he knows the most improbable anecdotes.
Many are the recognition and decorations that he has had, and he shows it proudly, it is not possible to hope another thing of anybody who dedicated his life to the word, to the client, to the seaHis working life has not gone unnoticed, he has received to the most notable personalities of the world and of our country, and of all he has something to say … visit of glories of the Cuban sport like Alberto Juan Torena, Javier Sotomayor, or Deborah Andollo for whom he should prepare an immersion program in Cayo Largo with which she implanted a new record in her career.
THE TURTLES FAITHFUL TO THE BEACH WHERE THEY ARE BORN AND ARE REPRODUCED

In the nights passed up until today there have been seen traces of a daily average of 8 reproductive in Lindarena beach and between 15 and 20 in Mal Tiempo beach, while the previous year about 8 females were meeting per day between both beaches. In 15 days, 10 of these reptiles have been marked and about 800 eggs have been gathered in nearly 7 nests |
